The Rumbeck Monastery is the origin of today’s village.
As one of three Premonstratensian monasteries in the city of Arnsberg, it was of great importance until its secularization in 1804.
After the monastery was dissolved, distinctive buildings were lost (demolition or fire), so that the building ensemble is less recognizable as a monastery today than it was originally.
Today we are trying to make this place with all its facets understandable and experienceable again. To this end, all kinds of Measures implemented, which you can read here:
